One Direction, Girls Aloud And Doctor Who To Appear On Children In Need. Charity special Children in Need always brings out the best in the celeb and music world and this year promises to be no exception with the best bands in the biz, Girls Aloud and One Direction slated to appear on the show.

And Doctor Who fans should tune in for a special sneak peek on the Christmas episode.

One Direction will open the show followed by Girls Aloud, who will play the official Children In Need track and their first outing in yonks, 'Something New', according to Contactmusic.com.

Robbie Williams will also appear as well as our Olympic and Paralympic favourites, Tom Daley Rebecca Adlington and Ellie Simmonds.

Other scheduled acts are Girls Aloud little sisters, Little Mix, The Script and Paloma Faith.

Previous Children in Need specials have seen Adele, the cast of Outnumbered, Gok Wan and The Saturdays take part.

Last year's mammoth telethon raised £26.3 million for disadvantaged children in the UK.  Terry Wogan will co-host this year's event with Fearne Cotton, Tess Daly and Nick Grimshaw.

Children in Need takes place on Friday, November 16.
